Historia

I mångt och mycket så kan vi väl tacka Johan Bergman för att det blev en förening. Det var ju han som helt förutsättningslöst samlade ett gäng människor med ett genuint intresse för gamla racebilar och fordon som blir lite ”back to basic”. Han bjöd upp folk till Gagnef under vintern 2005. Det var allmänt snack om gamla racebilar, god mat och bärs. Det hanns även med lite gamla filmer. I detta läge var det inget snack om förening.

Vid ett möte under februari månad 2006 så bildades föreningen i Vintrosa utanför Örebro. Största anledningen till att föreningen bildades var att få fler körtillfällen för gammelbilarna. Det konstaterades att det är enklare om vi samlade alla i en förening.
Under mötet skapades en enkel styrelse med Peder (Örebro) som ordförande, Lasse(Stockholm) som kassör och Malin(Nyköping) som sekreterare. vid det mötet bestämdes att föreningen skulle heta VDRA (Vintage Drag Race Assocation). Nu var ju det namnet redan upptaget, det blev; SVDA (Swedish Vintage Dragrace Association). Alltså med en tydlig koppling till Sverige.

I grunden är det en förarförening, men den är ju öppen för alla som delar detta intresse för frontmotordragsters, gassers, altereds, dragbikes och annat gasglatt. Vår förhoppning är att den skall fortleva och bli en långvarig företeelse.

Rules 2006

The following rules were drafted with the idea that SVDA is a true nostalgia racing association. Its intent is that all cars in competition closely resemble the outward appearance of the cars that competed in the 50's through the early 70's. Anything that makes a competitor appear like a ”bracket car” will be disqualified from participating in this association. Any decisions by the Tech Committee regarding appearance issues are final. But most importantly SVDA is all about putting on a good show and having fun!


1. All cars must meet the safety requirements depending on the host drag strip.

2. Trans brakes and or line locks are allowed

3. Any ignition system are allowed

4. NO data recorders are allowed

5. NO delay boxes are allowed

6. Any steel or aluminium heads are allowed

7. Superchargers are allowed roots type only

8. Any intake carb combination or mechanical fuel injection allowed NO electronic injection

9. NO modern looking snorkel scoops or aero wings are allowed

10. Period correct wheels only NO modern billet style will be allowed

11. All cars must have a period correct paint or primer NO modern graphics will be allowed

12. The SVDA club logo must be displayed on all cars in competition

13. While the SVDA has no firm model year cut off all model years and body types must be PRIOR APPROVED at the time a person applies for a racing membership This rule does not apply to applications for those who do not intend to race their vehicle

14. All rules are subject to change at the discretion of the tech committee. The SVDA reserves the right to refuse any person for conduct detrimental to the clubs goal of RACING AND HAVING FUN!
